Trackday Insurance

It’s competition time here on the MotorMouthBlog and we are giving away an awesome track day experience. One lucky winner will win a day out at one of nine locations where they will be able to drive a Ferrari AND a Lamborghini.

The competition is open from now until 5pm on the 15th February. All you have to do is tell us via Twitter what your favourite car of all time is and why. Now of course Twitter only allows you to tweet a certain number of characters, so choose your words wisely! You may just end up slinging two gorgeous supercars around a track…

Spread the word petrol heads. It’s time for some fun!

The winner will be chosen at random after the closing date and contacted via Twitter.

Harry, firstly, im surprised you are going to track the Volvo...although Marham is definitely the place to pop your cherry!, secondly, I wouldnt bother with track insurance (especially at Marham) because unless you intend on driving like a complete male chicken (in which case you will get booted off anyway) then its not really necessary imo. Remember there will be other first timers on track so you wont be alone...besides, the sighting laps will be a good chance to familiarise yourself with track layout at a relaxed pace before going out proper.
Yes you will be nervous and yes you might make the odd mistake or two but the trick is to start off slow and build up your pace as your confidence increases..maybe follow someone else around for a few laps until you find your rhythm and go from there..or go out as a passenger in another car to see what lines and braking points they use to give you an idea...failing that take a more experienced driver out with you to show you the ropes...either way providing you drive within your limits and are sensible about it you will be fine and if you are unsure about anything then just ask and someone will help you
At the end of the day, for the most part, its a very safe place to be out there if you obey the rules laid out in the driver briefing. Think about it, everyone is going in the same direction (well thats the idea lol), theres plenty of run off should you make an error and theres more room on track than you will ever need for other cars to get past...remember its not a race and you are only out there to enjoy yourself and see what you and your car can do in a controlled environment. Admittedly with every event such as trackdays there are risks, I would be lying if I said there wasnt....but as above if you stick to the rules and drive within your limits you will come away with a massive grin on your face...but be warned, one you get the bug it can be very addictive
