Today I'm trying out the WordPress 5 Minute Install Anyone in the blogging world knows that WordPress is considered the elite of blogging platforms. With thousands of plugins (over 8,000 at the time of this writing), and advanced features such as pages and trackbacks, it's easy to see why. And WordPress is open source, which means you have free access to the code to run or modify to your heart's content.

So, what do you need to have in place before you install? You can easily set up your own test environment in your home; however, it will not be accessible to the Internet (which is the whole point). The easiest route to making your WordPress powered site available to the world is to buy space on a server. There are many hosting companies to choose from, and prices can be as low as $5 - $10/month. I use Hub, whose basic hosting package (about $8/month) is more than adequate, but there are many others out there.
