Other American skaters expected to vie for a spot on the podium are Rachel Flatt, Ashley Wagner, and Mirai Nagasu. 2010 U.S. Junior Ladies Champion Agnes Zawadzki, who makes her senior nationals debut at the competition in Gfeensboro, NC, Jan. 22-31, is an upcoming skater worthy of note.
Alissa Czisny Wins Grand Prix Final
Thanks to several well skated performances earlier in the season, resulting in a win at the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix Final in Beijing, China in December, Czisny is ranked first in the world for the current skating season by the ISU. Czisny hit two opening combinations, a triple Lutz/double toe loop and triple flip/double toe loop in her free skate. She followed that with four more triples, although stepping out of a double Axel.
Czisny won the gold medal at Skate Canada and a bronze at Trophee Eric Bompard to qualify her for the Grand Prix Final for the second time in her career. She is also the 2009 U.S. National Champion, but fell to a disappointing 10th last season.
