Indie pop musician AM and film score composer Shawn Lee collaborated, as a newly formed band, on the song Dark Into Light. AM wrote and provided the dulcet vocals that float over an electronic beat, with a 60’s psychedelic groove. Both artists layered the cut with a mixture of instruments – such as drums, Casio synths and bass guitar.

Soon to be released as a single on April 16th, Dark Into Light is among the tracks the two-headed band, informally dubbed AM and Shawn Lee, produced for their upcoming and unnamed album. They anticipate funding both their EP and a promotional tour with a social network fundraising campaign through PledgeMusic. In turn, the band will give a percentage of monies raised as a donation to help a Japanese musician victimized by Japan’s recent tsunami disaster.

The partnership as AM and Shawn Lee started after AM heard Lee’s Music and Rhythm album on the radio in Los Angeles (KJazz's Miles Perlich to be exact). After reaching out to Lee via email the two became quick friends sharing a similar love for vintage grooves and ‘60s and ‘70s soundtrack music. In the summer of 2010, Lee, armed with a four-track and other vintage tape machines in his London studio, started sending AM drum and percussion beats in December 2010. In Los Angeles, AM responded by writing and recording songs over the grooves, adding guitars, and vocals, then, emailing the tracks back to Lee in London.
