Since its release over ten years ago, the movie High Fidelity, which follows the often humorous romantic ups and downs of music store owner and “top 5 list” maker Rob Gordon, still holds a place among top romantic comedies. Rotten Tomatoes has ranked it number 14 on its “25 Best Romantic Comedies” guide, just above When Harry Met Sally and just below Knocked Up, and even a list of the “Top 9 Romantic Comedies for Dudes” (nextmovie.com) places it at number one. Brief History of the Movie 'High Fidelity'

The movie screenplay for High Fidelity was adapted from Nick Nornby's 1995 book of the same name. The book took place in London, but was moved to Chicago for the movie by director Stephen Frears and the movie's screenplay writers, which included John Cusack. The movie was released in March of 2000 and in 2001 was nominated for a Golden Globe Award (for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical), and won a Blockbuster Entertainment Award and a Golden Reel Award.

The Cast of the Movie 'High Fidelity'

High Fidelity has a varied cast, with John Cusack as the leading male role of Rob Gordon, and Danish actress Iben Hjejle as the female lead of Laura. Other well-known cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Tim Robbins, Todd Louiso, Joan Cusack, Lili Taylor, Lisa Bonet, and Jack Black. In High Fidelity Jack Black played Barry, the eccentric and unpredictable music store employee, which was one of his earliest movie roles. This varied group of actors/characters brought a multi-dimensional feel to the story, winding the viewer through a web of past and present events and relationships.
